Prepare the base:
Removal of turf or preparing the ground is the first thing that you have to do while installing artificial grass. Remove all the natural grass from ground where you are planning to fix the fake grass. Remove the earth of the ground 25mm to 100mm deep of the ground where you are planning to fix the fake grass. Spray a weed blocker to step growing of any weeds in the future.
Fix the perimeter:
The next stage of the process installing fake grass is to prepare a perimeter. After the perimeter is marked with border bender or with extruded concrete curbing, the ground leveling has to be done by using base preparation material. For this 3/8” decomposed granite or class two road base or crushed stone can be used. The base material has to be evenly spread on the surface by providing future drainage requirements. It is advised to provide a slight slanting to the ground to speed up the drainage if you are not planning to provide a different dimension to the ground. With help of a roller compactor tighten area and make sure there are no bumps or uneven surfaces.
Lay the turf:
The challenge installing fake grass reaches to the final stage by unrolling the fake grass over the prepared base. Spread the turf carefully without leaving any wrinkle. If the turf is having wrinkles just spread it flat for some time till it is settled to look normal. In case if you are using joints, make sure the grains of the grass are in the same direction. Otherwise you will find it is difficult to do the finishing works. Fix the turf exactly matching to the prepared base by using a carpet cutter or sharp razor knife. The cutting has to be done from the back side of the artificial turf. If seaming is required, trim the edges neatly to stay fit both end of the turf. Use artificial staples or nails as the case may be and also use weather resistant adhesive.
Infill and power blow:
The final stage of installing fake grass will be complete with doing with fake grass infill. This is a critical process which helps the grass to stand straight. Normally the infill materials include washed sand and cryogenic rubber or acrylic coated sand. A drop spreader can be used to spread the infill. Never dump the infill which will be difficult to get the infill spread evenly after. Use a power broom to brush the fake grass until the grass stand straight. The brushing has to be done in the direction of the grains on the grass. Once all these process are done, sweep all the area by using a leaf blower!
